 IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL

NORTHEAST TEACHERS’ CONVENTION

DELEGATES

For the past several years we have had many very crowded sessions. Unfortunately, some of this crowding has been the cause of an influx of persons who were not supposed to be in attendance – either because they were not certified teachers or they were not members of either the Alberta Teachers’ Association or an affiliated association of the Canadian Teachers’ Federation.

In order to alleviate the above problem, the Northeast Teachers’ Convention Association will ask that you carry your ATA membership card with you at all times.  If you do not have a hard copy a copy can be printed out by going to the ATA website.

THE FOLLOWING DELEGATES WILL BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND:

1) All full-time and part-time teachers from the following ATA Locals: Aspen View, Fort Vermilion, Greater St. Paul, Lakeland Catholic, Northern Lights and Northland.  Local treasurers pay the $105.00 (includes GST) registration fee to the convention association.

2) Substitute teachers from the above ATA Locals can attend at no cost but must register using the online form linked above and must check-in at the Convention Registration Desk on Thursday morning (Feb. 15, 2018 starting at 8:00 AM).

3) Any member of an ATA local other than the above can attend, but must pay a $200.00 registration fee (includes GST), must register using the online form linked above and must check-in at the Convention Registration Desk on Thursday morning (Feb. 15, 2018 starting at 8:00 AM).

5) Anyone who possesses a current Associate ATA membership (valid until August 31, annually) may attend convention, but must pay a $200.00 registration fee (includes GST), must register using the online form linked above and must check-in at the Convention Registration Desk on Thursday morning (Feb. 15, 2018 starting at 8:00 AM). Proof of current membership must be submitted with the registration form no later than January 10.

6) Teachers from other provinces or territories must pay a registration fee of $200.00 (includes GST) and provide proof of their membership in their provincial or territorial teachers’ federation.  If they do not possess membership in a provincial or territorial teachers’ federation, they must purchase an ATA Associate Membership for $186.30 through the ATA (by calling 1-800-232-7208) before registering. Eligible members can register using the online form linked above and must check-in at the Convention Registration Desk on Thursday morning (Feb. 15, 2018 starting at 8:00 AM). Proof of membership must be provided no later than January 10.

7) University Education students may be able to attend convention if they are in the final year of their program and are members of their student ATA local.  Registration for these students is coordinated through ATA Professional Development staff.  Contact them at pd@ata.ab.ca.  There is no cost for student registrations and approved student delegates will receive a convention wristband.

THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ATTEND:

1) Anyone who is not a current Active or Associate member of the Alberta Teachers’ Association (or a paying delegate from another province or territory)

2) Other individuals employed by a school district who are ineligible for membership in the ATA (such as educational assistants, library assistants, etc.)
3) Children.
